Hey there, I'm Lauren!

I’ve been where you are. I exclusively pumped for my 1st baby and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

The 1st few weeks of EP were the actual worst.

  • My newborn cried ALL.THE.TIME. — if she wasn’t eating or sleeping, she was crying.

  • My husband worked the night shift, so I had very little help at home.

  • We had just moved to a new state— 3 ½ hours away from family and friends — so I didn’t have a “village” to support me.

  • I also didn’t have the $$$ to spend on expensive pumps, bras, and other pumping gear.

I went to see a lactation consultant, but she focused mainly on getting my baby to latch, and I didn’t get any practical advice for pumping. So I had to do my own research.

I spent countless hours Googling, reading blogs, and scrolling through forums and support group posts, until I finally found a routine that allowed me to pump for 15 months without feeling stressed out all the time.

The way things were going, I was afraid I’d move to formula. This is the first time I’ve been able to breastfeed and I really didn’t want to give that up. This course made me feel good about how to make this last longer. I feel more confident about pumping out in public. I’ve also always worried about nosy people if I pump in public (even wearables are pretty obvious), however I went grocery shopping today and pumped without a care in the world! If someone were to say something, I was prepared with my firm but gentle response. As someone who has scoured the internet when beginning this journey myself, I didn’t exactly feel like I’d found the missing piece or life-changing hack in this course. But it’s nice to have a bunch of information about exclusively pumping all in one place, rather than piecing it together from other sources, especially for someone who is just getting started.

I loved the bra hacks! I was washing and reusing the same two bras and avoided using my Spectra because I had to wear a specific bra to hold the pumps. This is super helpful, as that was one of the reasons I dreaded pumping. And I love the part where you state for the fridge hack - if it causes more stress, then it's not worth it - I think that's a great practice if something causes more stress, skip it. This course was great for reassurance on pumping hacks and different methods to find what works great for you.
